There are many roads that lead to Seawall Motel.... some longer, some shorter. Perhaps you are traveling a long way, as the majority of our guests do.... you may want to arrive as quickly as possible with the least amount of hassle. We suggest Option # 1.

Option #1:
Take Route I-95 to exit 44 in Portland. You are on I-295 which joins with route I-95 again South of Agusta. This step saves you 8 miles and some tolls. Take route I-95 to exit 182A [mile marker 182] Bangor, Maine. Take Route I-395, about two miles to route 1A. this will take you through Ellsworth and onto Mount Desert Island. Stay to the right which is Rte 102. Follow Rte 102 about 15 minutes to Southwest Harbor. After going through the town, turn left on Rte 102A exactly 2½ miles. Welcome to Sea Wall Motel!

On a map this may seem a lot longer but it is only 7 miles longer and you save lots of time and hassles compared with Option #2:

Option #2:
Take Route I-95 to exit 44 in Portland. You are on I-295 which joins with route I-95 again South of Agusta. This step saves you 8 miles and some tolls. Take Agusta exit 109. Follow Rte. 3 signs [around two rotaries and a right turn at a large Mobil station and traffic light] through Belfast - Searsport - Bucksport - Ellsworth. In Ellsworth take a right at the 2nd traffic light. [Rte 3 & 1] Go over the causeway onto Mt. Desert Island. Stay to the right which is Rte 102. Follow Rte 102 about 15 minutes to Southwest Harbor. After going through the town, turn left on Rte 102A exactly 2½ miles. Welcome to Seawall Motel!

You can always go home Option #2, but arriving via Route 1 [Option #2] in July or August is, at best, much slower and on a bad day a nightmare.
